PERTUNJUKAN TOBO BASAMPUAK SEBAGAI MANIFESTASI BUDAYA DALAM MASYARAKAT NAGARI PADANG LAWEH KABUPATEN SIJUNJUNG SUMATERA BARAT

Abstract

This research aims to analyze the form of the tobo basampuak performance as a cultural manifestation in the community of Nagari Padang Laweh, Sijunjung Regency. The research method used is a qualitative method with a descriptive analysis approach, aiming to depict the situation as it is and conduct in-depth analysis. The theoretical references of the research include cultural theory by Williams, sociology theory by Allan Jhoson, and form theory by Y. Sumandiyo Hadi. The research findings reveal that the tobo basampuak performance reflects the daily activities of the community in Nagari Padang Laweh when they work together in the fields, involving the participation of both men and women. Their involvement is reflected in the naming of the movements used in this performance, providing a real picture of daily life and the diversity of gender roles in the context of cultural activities. Thus, the tobo basampuak performance is not merely entertainment but also a form of representation and expression of culture that authentically portrays the life of the local community.
