Abstract

The dance work "Rato'I One" was inspired by a cultural phenomenon in Jorong Ampalu, Sutera District, Pesisir Selatan Regency, namely the Lela Child Tradition. The Lela Child Tradition is a tradition of putting children to sleep by rocking them while singing lullaby songs which usually contain a mother's message to her child about sadness, anxiety and unrest in a mother's mood. From this phenomenon, the creator translated it into a group choreography which was displayed at the Boestanul Arifin Adam Auditorium, Padangpanjang Indonesian Art Institute. This work, which is divided into three parts, is performed by six female dancers and three male dancers, where one female dancer plays the role of mother. The fashion make-up used is beautiful stage make-up for female dancers and stage make-up for male dancers, while the clothes used are yellow creative kuruang clothes with white loose trousers for women and creative taluak balango clothes for men. The methods used in producing this work are data collection or field observation, data processing, literature study, exploration, movement planning, improvisation, formation and evaluation.
