Affect theory serves as a conceptual framework to explore the relationship between the visual aspects of the artwork and their impact on the subjective experience of the audience. Through a qualitative approach and aesthetic analysis methods, this research focuses on elements such as composition, color, scale, and symbolism within the artwork, and how these elements influence the viewers' emotional perception. The findings reveal that "Lepas" successfully creates a profound affective resonance, where viewers not only appreciate the visual aspects of the painting but also experience intense emotional reactions. The affect generated by this work transcends the boundaries of visual aesthetics, making "Lepas" an effective medium for emotional communication. This study contributes to a broader understanding of the role of affect in monumental painting, particularly in the context of visual art appreciation in Indonesia.
