WOMEN MINANGKABAU IN LIMPAPEH DECORATIVE MOTIF VISUALIZATION

Abstract


Limpapeh or attacus atlas is a large butterfly with a broad expanse of wings, which has a reddish-brown color and is decorated with a little white color. The overflow habit alighted on houses, buildings, trees, leaves, and flowers in bloom. For the Minangkabau community, Limpapeh is a term for Minangkabau women who have grown up who are responsible for looking after the next lineage, based on the maternal line that will become residents of the gadang house. Form of limpapeh in Minangkabau motif The idea in creating limpapeh motif in Minangkabau originated from the shape of a butterfly. Limpapeh is an interpretation of a Minangkabau woman who lives in a gadang house, namely a woman who is virtuous, polite, good at caring for herself and plays a role in fostering children's education. Limpapeh motifs include large filler motifs. The motif is the main element of an ornament. Through a motif on an ornament, it can be recognized that the limpapeh motif is a composition of natural forms which are visible representations of nature
