PENERAPAN ORNAMEN NIAS PADA BATIK TULIS TEKNIK COLET DI SMP SWASTA SALSA PERCUT SEI TUAN

Abstract

Ornamen Nias yang dikembangkan peneliti lewat karya batik tulis teknik colet. Dalam proses pembelajaran membatik masih pada batas penggunaan motif bebas yang masih sangat biasa seperti ragam hias flora dan fauna. Siswa juga belum mengenal berbagai macam ornamen Sumatera Utara khususnya ornamen Nias yang mengakibatkan kurang kreatif dan kreasi siswa serta menurunnya hasil belajar membatik siswa. Serta pada proses pembelajaran batik masih pada batas penggunaan media kerta belum menggunakan media kain yang menyebabkan kurangnya pengetahuan siswa. Dengan demikian penelitian ini dilakukan bertujuan untuk meningkatkan pengetahuan proses membatik mulai dari mendesain, mencanting, mewarnai, melorod, dan finishing pada kain. Populasi yang diambil dalam penelitian ini adalah 38 siswa. Teknik pengambilan sampel penelitian adalah total sampling, yaitu teknik pengambilan sampel adalah keseluruhannya. Data penelitian ini dijaring dari hasil penerapan ornamen, observasi serta penilaian 3 validator. Hasil penelitian diperoleh kesimpulan bahwahasil penerapan ornamen Nias pada batik tulis teknik colet dikatakan baik, dapat dilihat dari hasil prsentasi setiap karyanya. Pada proses penerapan ornamen Nias pada batik tulis teknik colet menunjukkan bahwa 38 siswa mencapai ketuntasan.

ABSTRACT

The background in this study is the Nias Ornament which the researcher developed through the work of written batik with the colet technique. In the learning process, batik is still at the limit of using free motifs, which are still very common, such as decorative flora and fauna. Students are also unfamiliar with various kinds of ornaments from North Sumatra, especially Nias ornaments, which results in students' lack of creativity and creation and a decline in students' learning outcomes of batik. As well as the batik learning process is still at the limit of using paper media, not cloth media, which causes a lack of student knowledge. Thus, this research was conducted to increase understanding of the batik process, starting from designing, printing, coloring, melorod, and finishing on fabric media. The population taken in this study was 38 students. The research sampling technique is total sampling, which is a data source sampling technique where if the population is below 100, the sample is the whole. The data of this study were collected from the application of ornaments, observations, and assessments by three validators. The results of the study concluded that applying Nias ornaments on written batik with the colet technique was said to be good, as seen from the presentation of each of his works. In applying Nias ornaments to written batik with the colet technique, 38 students achieved completeness.
