MAKNA GERAK DAN FUNGSI TARI LIKOK PULO DI SANGGAR SYECH AHMAD BAIDEHON KECAMATAN PULO ACEH

Abstract


This study aims to describe the meaning of motion and function of Likok Pulo Dance in Sanggar Syech Ahmad Baidehon, Pulo Aceh District. This research uses descriptive qualitative research, using Ferdinand de Saussure's Semiotics theory and Anthony V. Shay's Function theory. Data collection methods include observation, interviews, and documentation studies, and use data analysis, namely data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing or verification. The results showed that Likok Pulo Dance is a dance that involves hand, body, and head movements that reflect the daily life of the people of Pulo Aceh. The meaning of each movement in this dance is generally related to the invitation to worship and believe in God. The movements also describe the activities of the people of Pulo Aceh and are harmonized with the accompanying poems. Besides having a deep meaning, Likok Pulo Dance in Syech Ahmad Baidehon Studio has several important functions. This dance serves as a means of creative and religious expression, as well as providing entertainment and recreation for dancers and audiences. This dance also acts as a medium of emotional therapy that can help release negative energy. With an aesthetic appearance and supporting local economic activities, Likok Pulo Dance is prioritized as the preservation and development of Aceh's cultural heritage.
