PENGEMBANGAN PRODUK KREATIF BAHAN KERTAS BEKAS MELALUI WORKSHOP SEBAGAI EDUKASI BAGI UMKM DALAM PEMBUATAN SUVENIR

Abstract

A workshop on creative waste paper products in Bukittinggi City was held in order to educate the public and MSMEs to cultivate an attitude of caring for the environment by using used paper. The waste paper recycling business opportunity is quite interesting to develop, considering the city of Bukittinggi as a major tourist destination in West Sumatra. This workshop is very important, because it can provide knowledge about skills in the form of artistic creativity that have commercial value. The use of waste paper has not been managed properly, even though waste paper is abundant and can be used as an alternative material for works of art, especially for souvenirs. The results of this workshop increase the insight and skills of MSMEs in the use of waste paper for creative products. Participants know many techniques that can be used in recycling used paper, namely: folded, cut, rolled, glued, woven, woven and made into paper pulp as the basic material for relief-shaped artwork. The conclusion from the workshop, is educating MSMEs to care about the environment and being able to make recycled artwork from used paper.
