Focus and Scope

Journal Of Tourism Science, Technology And Industry  is a scientific journa. Published by Institut Seni Indonesia Padangpanjang, which includes a variety of research in the field of tourism. This journal is published twice a year on July and December. This journal has also been indexed on  Google Scholar. The manuscript can be research papers, the analysis of actual case studies, or ideas related to the actual tourism studies, as well as conceptual, technical and methodological papers on all aspects including research findings, experimental design, analysis and recent application in tourism studies. The scopes of Journal Of Tourism Science, Technology And Industry includes the study of:

PUBLICATION ETHICS

Background
Ekspresi Seni has to ensure that all published works within the journal follow ethical principles on academic publishing. It is therefore essential to set an ethical standard for all stakeholders to create a conducive environment and to avoid problems that may arise due to a certain conflict of interest. This document presents the policy of Ekspresi Seni on the respective publication ethics as guidance for all stakeholders of the journal.   

Responsibilities of authors

Authors are obliged to follow in peer review process set by Journal Of Tourism Science, Technology And Industry. Authors are responsible to provide original and accurate data (no plagiarism, no fraudulent data) concerning the manuscript submitted, and to provide the data when they are requested. The submitted manuscript should not be under consideration or accepted for publication elsewhere. Where parts of the data have been published elsewhere, the sources have to be acknowledged or cited accordingly. When reproducing data from other sources, proper citation and permission are required. Any potential conflict of interest has to be declared including any financial, personal, or other relationships with other people or organizations related to their work that could affect their work. All sources of financial supports for the research project and study sponsor(s) (if any) along with their role in the research or study, should be disclosed in the Acknowledgement. Authors are requested to be willing to publish corrections, clarifications, retractions and apologies when needed.

Responsibilities of reviewers

Reviewers are requested to assist in improving the quality of the manuscript through an objective review process within a scheduled period of time, and to contribute to the decision-making process on the manuscript. If reviewers find any published or submitted content similar to that under review, the editor has to be informed. Reviewers should have no conflict of interest with respect to the research, the authors and/or the research funders. Any confidentiality of information supplied by the editor or author should be maintained.

Responsibilities of editors

Editors have the complete responsibility and authority to accept or reject an article. They should have no conflict of interest with regard to articles they accept or reject. Editors should be objective and fair when conducting their duties without making any discrimination on gender, ethnic, religion, political view or geographical origin of the authors. Editors should also accept manuscripts on the basis of academic merit and without commercial influence.

Publishing ethics issues

Authors, reviewers and editors should maintain the integrity of the academic record during the whole process of publication. Business needs should be precluded from compromising intellectual and ethical standards.

Peer Review Process

Some policies in the review of  Journal of Tourism Science, Technlogy and industry

1. Any submitted paper will be reviewed by reviewers.

2. Review process employs Double-blind Review, that the reviewer does not know the identity of the author, and the author does not know the identity of the reviewer.

3. In the review process, reviewers consider the correspondence of title, abstract, discussion (findings) and conclusions. In addition, reviewers also consider the novelty, scientific impact and references used in the paper.

The response of the reviewers will be the basis for the Editor to conclude:

3. Resubmit for review

4. Resubmit elsewhere

5. Decline Submission

An article was rejected for publication due to various considerations, including:

1.The article does not fit the scope of journal.

2. The article does not follow the rules of writing scientific papers or author guidelines.

3. The fundamental methodological errors.

4. The author refuses to make suggestions of improvements provided by the reviewer without a logical basis.

5. There are indications of plagiarism of more than 15%.

Journal Of Tourism Science, Technology And Industry provides immediate open access to all article on the principle that making research freely available to the public; supports a greater global exchange of knowledge; and invaluable way to maximize the visibility and impact of research, especially education field. 

Journal Of Tourism Science, Technology And Industry uses CC-BY or The Creative Commons Attribution License
This means :

Publication decisions
The editor is responsible for deciding which of the articles submitted to the journal should be published.
The editor may be guided by the policies of the journal's editorial board and constrained by such legal requirements as shall then be in force regarding libel, copyright infringement and plagiarism. The editor may confer with other editors or reviewers in making this decision.

Fair play
An editor at any time evaluate manuscripts for their intellectual content without regard to race, gender, sexual orientation, religious belief, ethnic origin, citizenship, or political philosophy of the authors.

Confidentiality
The editor and any editorial staff must not disclose any information about a submitted manuscript to anyone other than the corresponding author, reviewers, potential reviewers, other editorial advisers, and the publisher, as appropriate.

Disclosure and conflicts of interest
Unpublished materials disclosed in a submitted manuscript must not be used in an editor's own research without the express written consent of the author.

Duties of Reviewers

Contribution to Editorial Decisions
Peer review assists the editor in making editorial decisions and through the editorial communications with the author may also assist the author in improving the paper.

Promptness
Any selected referee who feels unqualified to review the research reported in a manuscript or knows that its prompt review will be impossible should notify the editor and excuse himself from the review process.

Confidentiality
Any manuscripts received for review must be treated as confidential documents. They must not be shown to or discussed with others except as authorized by the editor.

Standards of Objectivity
Reviews should be conducted objectively. Personal criticism of the author is inappropriate. Referees should express their views clearly with supporting arguments.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Reviewers should identify relevant published work that has not been cited by the authors. Any statement that an observation, derivation, or argument had been previously reported should be accompanied by the relevant citation. A reviewer should also call to the editor's attention any substantial similarity or overlap between the manuscript under consideration and any other published paper of which they have personal knowledge.

Disclosure and Conflict of Interest
Privileged information or ideas obtained through peer review must be kept confidential and not used for personal advantage. Reviewers should not consider manuscripts in which they have conflicts of interest resulting from competitive, collaborative, or other relationships or connections with any of the authors, companies, or institutions connected to the papers.

Duties of Authors

Reporting standards
Authors of reports of original research should present an accurate account of the work performed as well as an objective discussion of its significance. Underlying data should be represented accurately in the paper. A paper should contain sufficient detail and references to permit others to replicate the work. Fraudulent or knowingly inaccurate statements constitute unethical behavior and are unacceptable.

Originality and Plagiarism
The authors should ensure that they have written entirely original works, and if the authors have used the work and/or words of others that this has been appropriately cited or quoted.

Multiple, Redundant or Concurrent Publication
An author should not in general publish manuscripts describing essentially the same research in more than one journal or primary publication. Submitting the same manuscript to more than one journal concurrently constitutes unethical publishing behaviour and is unacceptable.

Acknowledgement of Sources
Proper acknowledgment of the work of others must always be given. Authors should cite publications that have been influential in determining the nature of the reported work.

Authorship of the Paper
Authorship should be limited to those who have made a significant contribution to the conception, design, execution, or interpretation of the reported study. All those who have made significant contributions should be listed as co-authors. Where there are others who have participated in certain substantive aspects of the research project, they should be acknowledged or listed as contributors.

The corresponding author should ensure that all appropriate co-authors and no inappropriate co-authors are included on the paper, and that all co-authors have seen and approved the final version of the paper and have agreed to its submission for publication.

Disclosure and Conflicts of Interest
All authors should disclose in their manuscript any financial or other substantive conflict of interest that might be construed to influence the results or interpretation of their manuscript. All sources of financial support for the project should be disclosed.

Fundamental errors in published works
When an author discovers a significant error or inaccuracy in his/her own published work, it is the author’s obligation to promptly notify the journal editor or publisher and cooperate with the editor to retract or correct the paper.
